With the expansion of church service music and home recording studios, recessed floor boxes for live stages and studio routing has really become the core component in clean audio cabling design. No more tripping over box cable snakes or destroying cables that got stepped on. With simple strategic placement on stage edges or near central cable hubs like a drum riser, these floor boxes clear your performance area of audio, video and power cabling.
There is virtually no down side to installing them... except the audio connectors require soldering. But that is where Church Audio Supply's business really took a turn about 10 years ago. Once we offered professional wiring options, about half of all floor boxes sold now request that service.
Though XLR connectors can be purchased with a "barrel" style that plugs in on both sides, The limited space between the recessed plates and the bottom of the box will not allow enough room to fit a standard XLR cable connector so connection points must be soldered.
The costs of buying these boxes can be off-set in the protection of your stage cables since the cables are recessed into the box through the mouse hole gaps. The box lids can be closed flat protecting your cable investment. The lids are durable enough to be walked on and rolled over.
And remember, any D series audio or video connector can be populated in the boxes. All boxes with duplex 110 power outlets come with a backing box cover preventing any electrical interference with your sound.
